Accountable to:
Mechanical Discipline Leader

Function:
To provide engineering and design services by the creation of construction drawings and specifications for mechanical HVAC, plumbing and fire protection systems.

Responsibilities:
• Assists in the development of the project.
• Provides input for inter-disciplinary communications on a day-to-day basis.
• Assists with CAD plotting, reproduction and scheduling specifications.
• Direct development and production of documents, including specifications, bulletins and addenda.
• Assists Discipline Leader with quality control and assists with planning the project and list of activities to be performed.
• Assists the Discipline Leader in monitoring, budgeting and scheduling.
• Monitors and alerts the Discipline Leader when changes occur in the scope of work.
• Gives clear direction on specific tasks and time frames for work completion, and provides professional guidance to Technicians and Engineers.
• Keeps abreast of current design trends.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
• Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering with 5-7 years experience with construction projects required.
• Professional Engineering license strongly preferred.
• LEED Accredited Professional desired.
• Proven CAD and PC skills.
• Experience with Energy Modeling (Trace 700 Software) strongly preferred.
• Understanding of design and construction process.
• Technical aspects of a project (knowledge of construction, systems and materials).
• Understanding and comprehension of codes.
• A working knowledge and understanding of building systems and how they integrate and relate to architecture.
• A basic knowledge and understanding of mechanical, electrical and structural building systems and how they integrate.
• Ability and commitment to produce quality contract documents.
• Ability to coordinate with other disciplines.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
